Failed Representation: Chad West has become fundamentally disconnected from the people, neighborhoods, and public trust he was elected to protect.
DALLAS CITY HALL
Chad West has failed to protect Dallas City Hall. He secretly scouted new sites while his Finance Committee withheld repair funds, spent millions on consultants, and promoted inflated repair costs to justify abandoning the building. He backed moving 911 out and has said he would rather clear the I.M. Pei landmark for a housing development benefiting billionaire donors.
JEFFERSON VIADUCT
Chad West was repeatedly briefed on the convention center plans. He knew—or should have known—that the Jefferson Viaduct was at risk, yet failed to protect Oak Cliff’s vital connection to downtown. Any last-minute opposition is too little, too late. When forced to choose, he put a multibillion-dollar project benefiting developers and out-of-town visitors ahead of his own constituents.
NEIGHBORHOODS OR DEVELOPERS?
Chad West has turned City Hall into an upzoning machine—authorizing city-initiated hearings, backing virtually every developer’s rezoning request, and even supporting cases tied to a personal friend and his own plan commissioner. He has failed to protect neighborhoods, residents, and small businesses. When developers want more, District 1 comes last.
A BETRAYAL OF TRUST
Over and over, issue after issue, District 1 residents organized and demanded to be heard—only to see their concerns dismissed. That is failed representation and a betrayal of the trust voters placed in Chad West. District 1 deserves a council member whose first obligation is to the people of District 1, not the people writing the biggest checks.

This recall is about ending Chad West’s damaging term early and restoring a basic promise: District 1’s council member works for District 1.
Every petition signature and every vote for recall sends a clear message: we do not trust Chad West to represent our interests—now as our council member or in the future as any elected officeholder.
We are building a neighborhood-led movement to reclaim our representation and elect a council member who answers to residents—not developers, political insiders, or billionaire donors.

THE PATH
TO A RECALL
A successful recall begins long before the first petition signature is collected.
BUILD THE FOUNDATION
Raise the necessary funds, retain legal counsel, build public awareness, recruit volunteers and build the infrastructure required for a credible campaign.
FORMALLY LAUNCH
Five registered District 1 voters must give written notice to the City Secretary. That notice starts the official 60-day petition period.
COLLECT AND FILE
The campaign must collect signatures equal to at least 15% of the voters entitled to vote for the District 1 seat in the preceding general municipal election and file the completed petition before the 60-day deadline.
VALIDATE, CERTIFY AND VOTE
Within 30 days after filing the completed petition, the City Secretary validates the signatures and certifies the result, although additional time may be allowed. If the petition is certified, a recall election is called and District 1 voters choose who will serve the remainder of the term.
